A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Milkeyway Captive Portal (unknown version). Affected is an unknown code block of the file admin/userstatistics.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 03/01/2006. The weakness was disclosed 03/16/2006 by Francesco "aScii" Ongaro (Website). The advisory is shared for download at ush.it. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 16 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:admin/userstatistics.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
It is possible to mitigate the problem by adding an authentication mechanism.
