A vulnerability was found in haxx.se cURL and libcURL 7.29.0 (Network Utility Software). It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function tailmatch in the library lib/cookie.c of the component Domain Matching. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The tailMatch function in cookie.c in cURL and libcurl before 7.30.0 does not properly match the path domain when sending cookies, which allows remote attackers to steal cookies via a matching suffix in the domain of a URL.
The weakness was shared 04/12/2013 by YAMADA Yasuharu as libcurl cookie domain tailmatch as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at curl.haxx.se. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-1944 since 02/19/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
