The tailMatch function in cookie.c in cURL and libcurl before 7.30.0 does not properly match the path domain when sending cookies, which allows remote attackers to steal cookies via a matching suffix in the domain of a URL.

Multiple vulnerabilities existed in curl, the most serious of which may lead to arbitrary code execution. These issues were addressed by updating curl to version 7.30.0 (sic)This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-1944 since 02/19/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/31/2021). This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 69768 (Amazon Linux AMI : curl (ALAS-2013-210)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 43619 (Juniper Junos OS Multiple vulnerabilities in cURL versions (JSA10874)).
Upgrading to version 10.9 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
