A vulnerability was found in X.Org libXxf86dga up to 1.1.3. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function XDGAQueryModes/XDGASetMode of the component Graphical Library. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. Multiple buffer overflows in X.org libXxf86dga 1.1.3 and earlier allow X servers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted length or index values to the (1) XDGAQueryModes and (2) XDGASetMode functions.

Upgrading to version 1.1.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at cgit.freedesktop.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
