The TIFFWriteDirectoryTagLongLong8Array function in tif_dirwrite.c in the tiffset tool in LibTIFF 4.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via vectors involving the ma variable.

The weakness was disclosed 10/03/2016 by Kaixiang Zhang with Qihoo 360 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.maptools.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-3658 since 03/24/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
