In Apache HTTP Server versions 2.4.0 to 2.4.23, malicious input to mod_auth_digest can cause the server to crash, and each instance continues to crash even for subsequently valid requests.
The bug was discovered 12/20/2016. The weakness was disclosed 12/20/2016 by Security Team with Qihoo 360 as Apache HTTP Server 2.4.25 Released as confirmed release notes (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at httpd.apache.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-2161 since 01/29/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370348 (Apple Mac OS X Security Update Sierra 10.12.4, El Capitan 2017-001 and Yosemite 2017-001 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2017-03-27-3)).
Upgrading to version 2.4.25 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
