A vulnerability has been found in ImageMagick up to 6.9.4-4 (Image Processing Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file coders/mat.c of the component MAT File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. coders/mat.c in ImageMagick before 6.9.4-5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a mat file with an invalid number of frames.
The bug was discovered 12/26/2016. The weakness was shared 03/02/2017 by Bastien Roucaries (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-10069 since 12/26/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
