The SpliceImage function in MagickCore/transform.c in ImageMagick before 6.9.2-4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted png file.
The bug was discovered 01/17/2016. The weakness was published 03/15/2017 by kriks (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-8897 since 06/02/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
