A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg up to 1.2 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function rv20_decode_picture_header of the file libavcodec/rv10.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. The weakness was published 04/17/2013 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind with Google Security Team as rv10: check that extradata is large enough as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 9.5 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.videolan.org.
