A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in ImageMagick 6.9.5-5 (Image Processing Software). This affects the function ReadPWPImage of the file coders/pwp.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Use-after-free vulnerability in the ReadPWPImage function in coders/pwp.c in ImageMagick 6.9.5-5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or other unspecified impact via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 12/26/2016. The weakness was disclosed 03/23/2017 by Bastien Roucaries (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-10051 since 12/26/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
