A vulnerability has been found in libming 0.4.7 (Programming Tool Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function printMP3Headers of the file listmp3.c of the component MP3 File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a divide by zero vulnerability. The printMP3Headers function in listmp3.c in Libming 0.4.7 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and application crash) via a crafted mp3 file.
The bug was discovered 11/10/2016. The weakness was released 03/23/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-9265 since 11/10/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
