The jpc_bitstream_getbits function in jpc_bs.c in JasPer before 2.0.10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure) via a very large integer.
The bug was discovered 03/23/2017. The weakness was shared 03/23/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-9391 since 11/17/2016. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
