A vulnerability was found in Jasper up to 1.900.16 (Programming Tool Software). It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function jas_seq2d_create of the file jas_seq.c. The jas_seq2d_create function in jas_seq.c in JasPer before 1.900.17 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 03/23/2017. The weakness was disclosed 03/23/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-9394 since 11/17/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
