Mozilla Firefox before 23.0 and SeaMonkey before 2.20 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted WAV file that is not properly handled by the nsCString::CharAt function.

The weakness was presented 08/06/2013 by Aki Helin (moz_bug_r_a4) with Oulu University Secure Programming Group as MFSA 2013-67 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Mozilla. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-1708 since 02/13/2013. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
