The Web Workers implementation in Mozilla Firefox before 23.0, Firefox ESR 17.x before 17.0.8, Thunderbird before 17.0.8, Thunderbird ESR 17.x before 17.0.8, and SeaMonkey before 2.20 does not properly restrict XMLHttpRequest calls, which allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via unspecified vectors.

The weakness was shared 08/06/2013 by Federico Lanusse (moz_bug_r_a4) with Mozilla as MFSA 2013-73 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2013-1714 since 02/13/2013. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
