Multiple untrusted search path vulnerabilities in the (1) full installer and (2) stub installer in Mozilla Firefox before 23.0 on Windows allow local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in the default downloads directory. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2012-4206.

The weakness was published 08/06/2013 by Robert Kugler, Brian Bondy and Robert Strong (moz_bug_r_a4) with Mozilla Corporation as MFSA 2013-74 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-1715 since 02/13/2013. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
