The multiauth module in SimpleSAMLphp 1.14.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to bypass authentication context restrictions and use an authentication source defined in config/authsources.php via vectors related to improper validation of user input.
The bug was discovered 05/05/2017. The weakness was released 09/01/2017 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at simplesamlphp.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2017-12869 since 08/15/2017. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 4 months after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
