A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in XMB Extreme Message Board up to 1.9.6 (Forum Software). This affects an unknown code block of the file memcp.php of the component Apache HTTP Server. The manipulation of the argument langfilenew
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in memcp.php in XMB (Extreme Message Board) 1.9.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via directory traversal sequences in the langfilenew parameter, as demonstrated by injecting PHP sequences into an Apache HTTP Server log file, which is then included by header.php.
