A vulnerability has been found in dotCMS up to 3.3.0 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component HTML Pages. The manipulation of the argument _EXT_15_orderby with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. SQL injection vulnerability in the "Site Browser > HTML pages" screen in dotCMS before 3.3.1 allows remote authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the orderby parameter.

The weakness was released 10/31/2016 by Elar Lang as Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in dotCMS (8x CVE) as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-8908 since 10/24/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
