The ReadSUNImage function in coders/sun.c in ImageMagick allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted SUN file.

The bug was discovered 09/29/2016. The weakness was presented 04/20/2017 by Moshe Kaplan (oss-sec). The advisory is available at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-7518 since 09/09/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
