A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple iOS up to 6.1.4 (Smartphone Operating System). Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component libxml. The manipulation of the argument XML File with an unknown input leads to a resource management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-399. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:

libxml2 before 2.8.0 computes hash values without restricting the ability to trigger hash collisions predictably, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via crafted XML data.

The weakness was shared 09/18/2013 by Juraj Somorovsky as APPLE-SA-2013-09-18-2 iOS 7 as confirmed mailinglist post (Website). The advisory is available at prod.lists.apple.com. The mailinglist post contains:

Multiple memory corruption issues existed in libxml. These issues were addressed by updating libxml to version 2.9.0.
This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-0841 since 01/19/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version iOS 7.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.gnome.org.
