Use-after-free vulnerability in the nsEventListenerManager::HandleEventSubType function in Mozilla Firefox before 26.0, Firefox ESR 24.x before 24.2, Thunderbird before 24.2, and SeaMonkey before 2.23 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (heap memory corruption) via vectors related to mListeners event listeners.
The weakness was presented 12/10/2013 by Tyson Smith and Jesse Schwartzentruber with BlackBerry Security Automated Analysis Team as MFSA2013-108 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-5616 since 08/26/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
