A vulnerability was found in Linux Foundation Xen (Virtualization Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function FLASK_GETBOOL/FLASK_SETBOOL of the component Flask Hypercall. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a numeric error vulnerability. Multiple integer overflows in the (1) FLASK_GETBOOL and (2) FLASK_SETBOOL suboperations in the flask hypercall in Xen 4.1.x, 3.3.x, 3.2.x, and earlier, when XSM is enabled, allow local users to cause a denial of service (processor fault) via unspecified vectors, a different vulnerability than CVE-2014-1891, CVE-2014-1892, and CVE-2014-1894.
The weakness was released 02/10/2014 by Matthew Daley as XSA-84 as confirmed mailinglist post (Mailing List). The advisory is shared for download at xenbits.xenproject.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-1893 since 02/07/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 72539 (Fedora 20 : xen-4.3.1-9.fc20 (2014-2170)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
