The sse2_composite_src_x888_8888 function in Pixman, as used in Cairo in Mozilla Firefox 28.0 and SeaMonkey 2.25 on Windows, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write and application crash) by painting on a CANVAS element.

The weakness was released 04/29/2014 by Jukka Jylänki as MFSA2014-41 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1528 since 01/16/2014. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
