A vulnerability has been found in rdesktop up to 1.8.3 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function lspci_process. rdesktop versions up to and including v1.8.3 contain an Integer Underflow that leads to a Heap-Based Buffer Overflow in the function lspci_process() and results in memory corruption and probably even a remote code execution.

The bug was discovered 02/05/2019. The weakness was presented 03/15/2019 (Website). The advisory is available at research.checkpoint.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-20179 since 12/17/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
