A vulnerability was found in PHP up to 7.1.7/7.2.16/7.3.3 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects the function exif_iif_add_value of the component EXIF Extension. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. When processing certain files, PHP EXIF extension in versions 7.1.x below 7.2.8, 7.2.x below 7.2.17 and 7.3.x below 7.3.4 can be caused to read past allocated buffer in exif_iif_add_value function. This may lead to information disclosure or crash.

The bug was discovered 04/15/2019. The weakness was published 04/18/2019 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2019-11035 since 04/09/2019. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
