CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability labeled as critical has been found in HTTP2. This affects an unknown part of the component Ping Handler. The manipulation results in resource consumption. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-9512. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. No exploit is available. Applying restrictive firewalling is recommended.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in HTTP2 (the affected version unknown). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown part of the component Ping Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:

Some HTTP/2 implementations are vulnerable to ping floods, potentially leading to a denial of service. The attacker sends continual pings to an HTTP/2 peer, causing the peer to build an internal queue of responses. Depending on how efficiently this data is queued, this can consume excess CPU, memory, or both.

The weakness was published 08/13/2019 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-9512 since 03/01/2019. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 236585 (Alibaba Cloud Linux 3 : 0069: go-toolset:rhel8 (ALINUX3-SA-2021:0069)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

It is possible to mitigate the weakness by firewalling .
