Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird 1.x before 1.5.0.2 and 1.0.x before 1.0.8, Mozilla Suite before 1.7.13, and SeaMonkey before 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via "an invalid and non-sensical ordering of table-related tags" that results in a negative array index.

The weakness was disclosed 04/13/2006 by Martijn Wargers (moz_bug_r_a4) with TippingPoint and the Zero Day Initiative as MFSA2006-13 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-0748 since 02/17/2006. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 21225 (Firefox < 1.5.0.2 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 117722 (CentOS Security Update for Firefox (CESA-2006:0328)).
