Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Avaya S87XX, S8500 and S8300 (the affected version unknown). Affected is an unknown part of the component Linux Kernel. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a uninitialized resource vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-908. The product uses or accesses a resource that has not been initialized. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
The dvd_read_bca function in the DVD handling code in drivers/cdrom/cdrom.c in Linux kernel 2.2.16, and later versions, assigns the wrong value to a length variable, which allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a crafted USB Storage device that triggers a buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 07/05/2006. The weakness was shared 02/27/2007 by Marcus Meissner with Avaya (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.avaya.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-2935 since 06/09/2006. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
