A regression fix in Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via the InstallTrigger.install method, which leads to memory corruption.

The bug was discovered 04/13/2006. The weakness was presented 04/14/2006 by Georgi Guninski (TippingPoint) with TippingPoint and the Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-1790 since 04/14/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
