Details
A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird up to 1.5.0.3 (Web Browser). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Integer overflow in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird before 1.5.0.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via "jsstr tagify," which leads to memory corruption.
The weakness was disclosed 06/02/2006 by Mikolaj J. Habryn (moz_bug_r_a4) with Cybozu Labs (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-2780 since 06/02/2006. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
