A regression error in Mozilla Firefox 2.x before 2.0.0.2 and 1.x before 1.5.0.10, and SeaMonkey 1.1 before 1.1.1 and 1.0 before 1.0.8, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript as the user via an HTML mail message with a javascript: URI in an (1) img, (2) link, or (3) style tag, which bypasses the access checks and executes code with chrome privileges.

The bug was discovered 01/29/2007. The weakness was shared 03/05/2007 as Bug 230733 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-0994 since 02/16/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 26 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
