A vulnerability was found in ImageMagick up to 6.0.1 (Image Processing Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function readblobstring of the file blob.c. Off-by-one error in the ReadBlobString function in blob.c in ImageMagick before 6.3.5-9 allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted image file, which triggers the writing of a \0 character to an out-of-bounds address.
The bug was discovered 09/19/2007. The weakness was released 09/24/2007 by regenrecht (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at labs.idefense.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-4987 since 09/19/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
