The bug was discovered 08/12/2008. The weakness was presented 08/12/2008 by iDefense with VeriSign (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-3005 since 07/07/2008. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
