The weakness was released 05/15/2012 by Luigi Auriemma (CHkr_D591) with Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) as APPLE-SA-2012-05-15-1 as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.apple.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-0668 since 01/12/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
