The weakness was published 08/15/2012 by Stefan Cornelius as wnpa-sec-2012-24 as confirmed bulletin (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at wireshark.org. The public release has been coordinated with the project team. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-4286 since 08/14/2012. The attack can be launched remotely.
