A vulnerability was found in Apple iTunes up to 12.2 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-8146 since 10/10/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The advisory points out:
Multiple memory corruption issues existed in the processing of unicode strings. These issues were addressed by updating ICU to version 55.

Upgrading to version 12.3 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
