A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 1.8.5 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file dissectors/packet-reload.c of the component MPEG DSM-CC Dissector. The dissect_diagnosticrequest function in epan/dissectors/packet-reload.c in the REsource LOcation And Discovery (aka RELOAD) dissector in Wireshark 1.8.x before 1.8.6 uses an incorrect integer data type, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via crafted integer values in a packet.
The weakness was presented 03/15/2013 as wnpa-sec-2013-28 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at wireshark.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-2486 since 03/06/2013.
