Details
A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 21.0 (Web Browser). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function preserved-wrapper of the component PreserveWrapper Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
The PreserveWrapper implementation in Mozilla Firefox before 22.0, Firefox ESR 17.x before 17.0.7, Thunderbird before 17.0.7, and Thunderbird ESR 17.x before 17.0.7 does not properly handle the lack of a wrapper, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code by leveraging unintended clearing of the wrapper cache s preserved-wrapper flag.
The weakness was released 06/25/2013 by Boris Zbarsky (Paul) with Mozilla Corporation as MFSA 2013-56 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org.
