The Belkin WeMo Home Automation firmware before 3949 has a hardcoded GPG key, which makes it easier for remote attackers to spoof firmware updates and execute arbitrary code via crafted signed data.
The weakness was published 02/18/2014 by Mike Davis with IOActive as VU#656302 as confirmed vulnerability note (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The public release has been coordinated with Belkin. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-6952 since 12/04/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
