Details
A vulnerability was found in Artifex jbig2dec 0.13. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function jbig2_build_huffman_table of the file jbig2_huffman.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Artifex jbig2dec 0.13, as used in Ghostscript, allows out-of-bounds writes because of an integer overflow in the jbig2_build_huffman_table function in jbig2_huffman.c during operations on a crafted JBIG2 file, leading to a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execution of arbitrary code.
