Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Artifex jbig2dec 0.13. This affects the function jbig2_image_compose of the file jbig2_image.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Artifex jbig2dec 0.13 allows out-of-bounds writes and reads because of an integer overflow in the jbig2_image_compose function in jbig2_image.c during operations on a crafted .jb2 file, leading to a denial of service (application crash) or disclosure of sensitive information from process memory.
