A vulnerability has been found in Mozilla Firefox up to 1.5.0.4 (Web Browser) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Show only this Frame Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was released 06/02/2006 by Paul Nickerson as MFSA2006-34 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The attack can be launched remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at getfirefox.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
