A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Excel 2000/2002/2003/2007 (Spreadsheet Software). It has been rated as critical. Microsoft Excel 2000 SP3, 2002 SP3, 2003 SP2, 2003 Viewer, and Office Excel 2007 does not properly validate version information, which allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted Excel file, aka "Calculation Error Vulnerability".
The weakness was released 07/10/2007 with Microsoft as MS07-036 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-1756 since 03/29/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
