A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 2.0.11/2.2.5 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been rated as problematic. In Wireshark 2.2.0 to 2.2.5 and 2.0.0 to 2.0.11, the SIGCOMP dissector could go into an infinite loop, triggered by packet injection or a malformed capture file. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-sigcomp.c by correcting a memory-size check.
The bug was discovered 04/12/2017. The weakness was published 04/12/2017 as Bug 13578 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.wireshark.org.
