In Wireshark 2.2.0 to 2.2.5 and 2.0.0 to 2.0.11, the PacketBB dissector could crash, triggered by packet injection or a malformed capture file. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-packetbb.c by restricting additions to the protocol tree.
The bug was discovered 03/03/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/12/2017 as Bug 13559 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-7747 since 04/12/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
